2017 was the first year of this program employing summer students. The aim is to assist Pimicikamak citizens establish a responsible workforce with the youth. Duties are derived from programs being implemented from the Pimicikamak Okimawin Administration Office such as cleaning up and maintaining public spaces, common areas where citizens gather, and recreation facilities to improve both functionality and aesthetic quality. So far the program has been implemented only in Cross Lake.Â
Students had the opportunity to attain their CPR and First Aid certification. Employment included orientation and on-site support and clean up for local events. Through this program, students get to contribute to the public benefit with their services, and theyÂ also receive the opportunity for short term employment during summer holidays.
