This year, Pimicikamak supported a number of softball initiatives with the most prominent being the hosting of the KIWI cup. Pimicikamak Okimawin hosted the Kiwi Cup at Cross Lake which includes the U19 Boys New Zealand development team.  Pimicikamak youth participated in the 6 team round robin tournament in this international friendship tournament between two sovereign indigenous  peoples.  Event was well attended.

Other events supported this year included Softball capacity development in Certifying Coaches at various levels and umpires.  This program was also used to support local teams attending the annual Canadian native fastpitch championships and Minor Softball teams attending Provincial, Western Canadian and Canadian National Championships.

Pimicikamak funds this adopted modern sport we call Fast pitch. The sport of Fast pitch was formally introduced around 1970 to Pimicikamak citizens in Cross Lake.

This program nurtured some of the best softball athletes and teams in Canada. Many Pimicikamak citizens have since developed a passion for the game.
