Program 82: Boom Safety Patrol

Program Description

There is a need to provide navigation safety during the log boom maintenance being performed by Manitoba Hydro. In order to perform the maintenance in an efficient manner Manitoba Hydro plans to reduce the flow from 65,000 cfs to 30,000 cfs over an 8 hour period and then restore the original 65,000 cfs. The 35,000 cfs reduction over this short time period will cause a rapid fluctuation in the Cross Lake water level over a few day period.

To provide a remedial measure for adverse effects of the project on navigation safety in accordance with Article 24 of the NFA, consistent with Article 5 of the NFA.
